On a warm Saturday evening hundreds of visual art enthusiasts masked and mingled as various Encinitas civic and local art galleries swung open their doors. This bi-monthly event celebrates the city’s diverse visual art scene at participating locations and is free to the public. We enjoyed live music and refreshments while taking in the art by Denise ((bonaimo)) Sarram and several other artists whom had their art on display as well.

Art Night Encinitas was conceived by the Commission for the Arts to bring focus to our civic art galleries and thriving visual art scene. In 2021, twenty nine exhibits by local artists are presented in the City's three civic art galleries along with a myriad of local artists who exhibit their work at participating galleries.
These events benefit artists through the sale of their art and provides the public an opportunity to interact with artists and learn about the creative process.

On Sept. 18, 2021 Denise hosted an Artist Talk:
Assemblage artist Denise ((bonaimo)) Sarram took a deeper dive into her exhibition “Immigrate: Assimilate-Stories of Resilience.” Her artwork, which is based on historical research of her Sicilian ancestors who immigrated to America around the turn of the 20th century, makes for interesting subject matter. The context not only tells the stories of her family, but addresses the larger narratives of the Ellis Island experience, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of NYC in 1911, and more. The 20 minute slide show presentation and a tour of the exhibition with a brief Q and A with the artist was well received.
