Wooden curio box, authentic antique medical book illustrations and text, glass vials, plastic anatomy toys, golden shelf, paper clay, old IBM computer keys, antique piano music roll paper, blue flashbulbs, mirror, string lights, reproductions of vintage circus and carnival sideshow posters.
This artwork is meant to invoke the spectacle of a sideshow display one might see at an old-timey carnival. The human body is a fascinating laboratory of chemical processes and physiological functions.
We are all made up of these numerous parts, shown here as specimens, diagrams and models. Unlike a true circus sideshow (sometimes called the derogatory term- "freak show") this artwork features typical bodily functions, organs and body parts. Oddities and curiosities difficult to understand without extensive research. The sheer complexity of its function seems not humanly possible, hence the title.
